Tube vs open-reflex — why this one
Most red dots on the budget end are open-reflex (small dot floating in front of a glass plate). Tube red dots like this one are fully enclosed: the objective lens is recessed into a 46 mm metal tube, which means:
- Less glare in bright sunlight — the tube shades the lens
- Better in rain — water can't easily land on the lens
- More durable if you drop the rifle or knock the sight against cover
- Easier to see the dot in mixed lighting because your eye doesn't have to deal with surrounding glare
How to use it on the field
Mount it on any 20 mm Picatinny or Weaver rail using the integrated quick-detach clamp. Center the dot with the windage and elevation screws. With both eyes open, you'll find yourself acquiring targets dramatically faster than with iron sights — that's the entire point of a red dot.
