Thompson M1A1 – The Legendary WW2 Tommy Gun
Searching for a Thompson M1A1? This is a fully legal 1:1 scale airsoft replica — the same silhouette, size and feel as the historic weapon, but no firearms permit required in most EU countries. Owning a real Thompson M1A1 typically means a certified gun safe, background checks and €1,500–€4,000+ for a collectable original. This replica costs a fraction of that, ships across the EU, and is the fastest legal way to own an accurate copy of this gun for display, historical re-enactment, airsoft skirmish, or as a learning piece. Note: airsoft laws vary by country — it is the buyer's responsibility to confirm that owning an airsoft replica is legal where they live before purchasing.
Few weapons define the image of the American soldier in the Second World War like the Thompson M1A1. From the beaches of Normandy to the jungles of the Pacific, the Thompson was the weapon of choice for American GIs, paratroopers and Rangers. Its distinctive silhouette – the pistol grip, the straight stick magazine, the heavy barrel – is instantly recognisable from Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers and The Pacific. This is the airsoft replica that does the original full justice.
The Thompson M1A1 was a wartime simplification of the earlier M1928 “Tommy Gun” – the finned barrel and drum magazine were dropped in favour of a faster-to-produce, more reliable design. The result was the standard-issue submachine gun of the US Army from 1942 onwards, chambered in .45 ACP and capable of 600 rounds per minute. Every detail of that design is faithfully reproduced in this replica.
Full Metal Construction – Where It Counts
The receiver, outer barrel and magazine are all metal – the parts you see, touch and that take the most wear. At approximately 3 kg, the carries the authentic heft of the original. The stock, pistol grip and handguard are high-quality faux wood polymer with a realistic lacquered finish that reads convincingly as wood from any distance. This is the right trade-off: metal where structural integrity matters, low-maintenance polymer where complex wood grain surfaces would chip and scratch in field use.
Version 6 Gearbox – Built for the Thompson
The Thompson’s unique receiver geometry requires a dedicated Version 6 gearbox – a specialised shell that fits precisely inside the Thompson frame. this replica's V6 features full metal construction, steel gears and metal bushings throughout, making it one of the more robust gearboxes in the CM-series range. The system delivers a consistent 360 FPS / 109 m/s with a rate of fire of 600–700 BBs per minute – exactly the kind of suppressive fire the original Thompson was designed for.
Easy Battery Access
The battery is housed in the rear stock, accessed via a spring-loaded rotating baseplate that makes installation genuinely simple – no tools required. The stock compartment is generously sized and will accept virtually any battery with a mini Tamiya connector up to 9.6V NiMH or 7.4V LiPo. The included 1600 mAh battery gives you a solid session out of the box before you need to recharge.
420-Round Hi-Cap Metal Magazine
The included magazine is a full metal hi-cap holding 420 rounds – wind the wheel at the base to feed BBs reliably into the hop-up chamber. The adjustable hop-up is accessed from inside the magazine chamber. Two-point sling swivels are fitted front and rear; a tactical sling is included.
